Miracle of Help has already refurbished a small clinic in Ngolahun, in addition to providing for two wells to be dug, three latrines renovated, a 2,000-liter water tank installed, and 64 fruit trees planted. Building a guest house is underway, for the use of visiting doctors and nurses, particularly at our next pop-up clinic. Our first one, in November of 2019, was a huge success, treating 500 patients in one week for a wide variety of problems, and it was also our chance to bring medicines and supplies. We donated a centrifuge and microscope, test kits for malaria, HIV, and pregnancy, and blood-drawing and urinalysis equipment, as well as constructed and stocked a community tool shed. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, we provided 80 hand-washing stations, buckets with lids, spigots, and catch basins.

We constructed a multi-purpose building in Kenema, about 70 kilometers from Ngolahun. In July of 2019, we sent a container with equipment and supplies for a wood-working shop, restaurant, laundry, and computer lab for the workshop, which also houses a community meeting center. These businesses will create jobs and provide a steady income stream for the MCHP.

In January 2020, we sent a second container with building supplies to finish the center, furniture, school supplies, and a donated blue truck! This has enabled them to be much more efficient in finishing the Kenema center and starting the building in Ngolahun.

Your contributions will go towards building the hospital, which will cost approximately 150,000 USD.

  • Foundation:     30,000 USD.
  • Floor, walls, pillars, beams:  30,000 USD
  • Roof and ceiling:    20,000 USD
  • Pavement, wiring, plumbing:  20,000 USD
  • Power sources (solar, biofuel):   30,000 USD
  • Furnishing of rooms and offices:  20,000 USD

In addition, your contributions will sponsor many ancillary but necessary components of supporting the community and the hospital.

  • Equipping the farm with chickens, goats, pigs, etc, and pens for them:  20,000 USD
  • Salaries for five employees in Sierra Leone:    12,000 USD/annum
  • Operating expenses for truck, generator, other equipment:  12,000 USD/annum
  • Tractor:     10,000 USD
  • Ambulance:    10,000 USD
  • Well digging (two are needed):  5,000 USD
  • Once the skills training center is built, we will need to hire teachers of gara (indigo) dyeing and of othercrafts:     $5,000/annum
  • Scholarships for nurses, midwives, and Community Health Officers:  $1,000 each/annum (equivalent of doctors)

You can see how this community does a great deal with very little! Please give as generously as you can to help this project, vital to the lives of so many Sierra Leone villagers, succeed!
